Horizon launches Covid-19 decontamination service

Horizon Environmental has launched a specialist environmental cleaning service to decontaminate buildings from the coronavirus Covid-19.

The widespread outbreak of Covid-19 has seen many public and private buildings contaminated with the virus which can spread not only by contact with droplets transmitted by an infected person but by contact with a surface or object that has the virus on it.  The government suggests that the level of risk is highest in the first 72 hours after contamination but they are not sure at what point the level of risk reduces to zero.

Horizon has invested significantly in tried and tested cleaning systems and decontamination processes using quality sanitisation equipment and electrostatic disinfection products.  Our service covers any potentially contaminated surfaces or objects with a particular focus on high traffic areas and main touch points.  This includes desktops, communications equipment and computers, door handles and light switches, lifts, gym equipment and toilets.  The service can be provided to any building including site and corporate offices, schools and leisure facilities either as a precautionary measure or following contamination.

Providing asbestos removal and environmental cleaning services across the UK and worldwide, Horizon is highly experienced in dealing with hazardous materials and working in contaminated areas.  We have very strict health & safety policies, our team are highly trained, carry out thorough risk assessments and follow robust method statements.  They are also very practised in wearing extensive personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protective equipment (RPE) as well as decontaminating themselves after leaving a contamination area.

As an international provider of asbestos and land remediation services, Horizon is donating 2.5% of the value of the total works carried out under the cleaning service to the World Health Organisation’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund to help fight Covid-19 in the world’s poorest countries.

Managing Director, Ben Ives says: “With the right skills and expertise to be able to safely and effectively decontaminate buildings, we were asked by clients to deliver this specialist service.  We are only too pleased to be able to help provide safe environments for employees and the public at this worrying time.

“Having completed projects across the world, we are very aware of the challenges of fighting the coronavirus in poorer countries so it was only natural to want to use the profits from this service to help those more vulnerable in this worldwide crisis.”

As a regular user of extensive protective equipment, Horizon is pleased to have been able to donate RPE (respiratory protective equipment) and PPE to a local NHS Trust hospital.  We would like to thank all those in the frontline battle to overcome this virus and all key workers that are keeping essential services running at this time.
