New three-year HSE asbestos licence

Horizon has been awarded a new three-year licence from the Health & Safety Executive to undertake work with asbestos.

The HSE asbestos licence, valid to February 2024, enables us to continue to carry out licensable work including removal of sprayed coatings, pipe lagging and work involving loose fill insulation and insulation board (AIB).

Working with asbestos involves significant risks and, as a result, is very specialist and highly regulated under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and HSE licensing regime.  When applying for a licence, licensees are required to demonstrate their skills, knowledge, experience and expertise in working with asbestos, as well as robust health and safety systems.

Ben Ives, Managing Director, Horizon Environmental says: “Thanks to the whole team for their hard work and dedication, I’m very pleased to say that we have retained our asbestos licence.  We all work hard to deliver to the highest standards whilst ensuring the safety of our employees, our clients and the public, renewal of our licence is acknowledgement of our success in this.”

Asbestos licensees are inspected and interviewed by the HSE to ensure appropriate competence, knowledge and accountability both at an organisational and individual level.  The HSE issues licences for a fixed three-year period and requires every licensee to undergo an extensive renewal process.

At Horizon Environmental, we have held an asbestos license for ten years.  Find out more about our national asbestos removal services and international asbestos services.  To obtain a copy of our licence, please contact us.
